hopefully this is correct - if not, maybe someone can give me a hand with it?
OOC Name: Rainbowgirl/Elle
Ghost tags: Queen of the Shades
Model: Undecided
Character Name: Persephone
Character Type: Deity
Character Level: Lesser deity
Underworld av:
History: One such accounting is that Persephone was born to Demeter and Zeus but lived far away from the other deities, within nature. Demeter, her mother, protected her from the wooing of other gods, namely Hermes, Ares, Apollo, and Hephaestus, rejecting their gifts and hiding Persephone from their company. Her life was pleasant, simple, in the meadows and gardens surrounded by animals and plants. She loved to pick flowers, and it was during one such outing accompanied by some nymphs, that Hades broke through a cleft in the Earth and stole her away. She was taken away from her home and raped; the exact location is a much debated topic. Devastated, Demeter searched everywhere for her daughter before Helios finally told her what had happened.
Zeus forced Hades to return Persephone, however the Fates ruled that whoever consumed food or drink from the underworld was doomed to spend eternity there. Before Zeus demanded her return, escorted by Hermes, Hades had tricked her into eating some pomegranate seeds.
To settle the whole mess, Zeus demanded that Persephone be free 6 months of the year, but every 6 months she must return to Hades and the Underworld. This was one explanation for the changing of the seasons. When she returns after her half-year in the Underworld, her and Demeter celebrate the Spring, and it is said that when they meet again, the world explodes into the brilliant colours of Springtime.
